An FCC filing submitted by Nintendo and Mitsumi seem to show a picture of what could be the upcoming Nintendo 3DS. While the device pictured is most likely a test bed for the 3DS, not the final product, its two displays are very obvious. From the picture it does seem like the top screen is a widescreen display, giving hopes that the 3DS will offer widescreen gaming. This test board, labeled for the “DS CTR” has most of its components hidden, and Nintendo has requested that the inner details not be made public for 180 days dating from April 2010, which would mean the details should be available just before the Christmas shopping season. Test boards are commonly used by companies to make sure their basic ideas work the way they should, and help to identify problems on a more accessible platform before everything is shrunk for the final product. It’s not all that often that you hear news related to Project Natal, Microsoft’s take on controller-free gaming, and now PrimeSense has officially announced that it will be the one providing leading-edge 3D-sensing technology for use in Project Natal for the Xbox 360. In all honestly, consumers probably aren’t too worried about who comes up with what, rather they’re probably a lot more interested in seeing the results of Project Natal sitting on the retail shelves (or under their Christmas tree). Can news of the LG BL40 Chocolate arriving in Russia be considered so? Most people might skip this, but not when it comes accentuated with gold patterns in order to satisfy all the oil barons in that part of the world with their petro-dollars. It might seem familiar, as the gold pattern accents first made their appearance on the Christmas Edition of this handset, but this one sports a 5-megapixel camera with Schneider Kreuznach lens instead of the 8-megapixel shooter that is available in the Christmas Edition. No idea on pricing, but it should come with an inflated price point over the vanilla BL40 model.
