Modern smartphones tend to have one major issue – their battery life, or rather, the lack of it no thanks to numerous technologies crammed within with displays that suck up a whole lot of juice. Well, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is no different, but there are ways to go about it with one of them being turning off the Auto update for Data Sync under Settings, or you can also change the Update Frequency to each hour if you aren’t hard pressed to reply every mail that comes in – get a BlackBerry otherwise. Apart from that, try getting an application which will stop a handful of services on startup, while cycling the battery through a few times from discharge to full charge makes a pretty noticeable difference. It seems that careful maintenance and clever setting configuration on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 might yield anywhere from 20 to 30 hours of battery life compared to having everything turned on only to last half a day. Do you have any other tips to share with users?

Are you desperate to get your hands on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10? Well, if you’re living in the U.S., you’re out of luck, as the phone currently isn’t available in the US yet. That being said, that hasn’t stopped someone from trying to auction off an unlocked Xperia X10, but at a mind boggling price of $995.95. Would you give this phone a chance, or are you still patiently waiting for the deal to come to your carrier?

Virgin Mobile has officially confirmed that they will launch the HTC Desire and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 on their network in April 2010. As a reminder, the HTC Desire features a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a 3.7-inch AMOLED display. Meanwhile, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 supports a 4-inch touchscreen display and Timescape application to link all your social networks and contacts together. Sadly, there is no info on pricing of these handsets. Stay tuned for more updates. [TechDigest]
